An evening for market attendees
Anyone registered for MIP Cancun, which runs November 17-20, can attend the gala. Organizers intend it as an opportunity for entertainment and networking among executives and decision-makers working across Latin America's entertainment industry.
The gathering will include buyers, producers, distributors and broadcasters, as well as representatives of streaming platforms, studios, agencies, brands and the creator economy.
"With the inaugural MIP Cancun Gala, we want to celebrate that spirit and create a truly special moment for the people shaping the future of entertainment in Latin America," said María Pérez-Bellière, director of MIP Cancun.
Magic Juan to perform
Estudios RCN is contributing a live set by Magic Juan to the evening's program. The former Proyecto Uno member will perform selections from his best-known songs.
Magic Juan is the stage name of John Wilson, a Dominican-American artist born July 27, 1971, in New York's Washington Heights, according to Wikipedia's English-language entry. He served as Proyecto Uno's lead rapper and singer, performing the group's blend of merengue and hip-hop, and is also known as "El Negrito del Swing" and "King of Merengue Hip Hop."
The same source notes that Rolling Stone named Proyecto Uno's "El Tiburón" among the 25 biggest Latin songs ever recorded.
The companies behind the gala
MegaLive director Andrea Silva said the collaboration seeks to pair live entertainment with opportunities to build professional relationships. For Estudios RCN, the event reflects an interest in developing new entertainment experiences and formats, according to Rodrigo Romero-Hoyos, the company's head of marketing.
MegaLive was established in 2025 as a business unit of Colombian media conglomerate RCN Radio, owned by Organización Ardila Lülle, according to Wikipedia's Spanish-language entry on RCN Radio. Led by Silva, the unit produces large-format events and concerts in alliance with promoter Páramo Presenta.
Estudios RCN handles production and international distribution for Colombian broadcaster RCN. Cveintiuno reports that the business was formally established in 2023 and operates 18 studios in Bogotá. The outlet describes the facilities as Colombia's largest production complex and one of the largest in Latin America; about 80% of the RCN channel's programming is produced there.
Japan delegation joins the 2026 market
Elsewhere in the 2026 program, MIP Cancun will welcome Japan's first joint delegation to the market, according to its official website. The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association is leading the "All-Japan" initiative, which brings together 10 major networks and includes a dedicated Japan Pavilion and a content showcase.
