Four Mexican destinations make the list

Allianz Partners' 2026 Top Thanksgiving Destinations report, published October 27, put Cancun first among international destinations. Mexico claimed four places in the top 10, with San José del Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City also making the ranking.

According to a Puerto Vallarta press release, the Jalisco destination placed ahead of Nassau, Bahamas, and Mexico City. The release pointed to warm weather, cuisine, hospitality and opportunities for new experiences as attractions for holiday visitors.

Eighth place marks a decline from Puerto Vallarta's earlier results. It finished in the top three in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025, taking third place in the 2025 edition.

The travel dates behind the ranking

The ranking drew on more than 145,000 holiday travel itineraries, according to the press release. It covered departures from U.S. airports from November 21 through 26, with return travel scheduled from November 27 through December 1.
