Evidence collected at the scene
Preliminary reports indicate that several armed men approached Lara García at Miravalle and Valle del Dorado streets in the Valle Soleado neighborhood, fired multiple shots and fled. The shooting brought emergency responders and security personnel to the residential area.
Red Cross paramedics provided initial treatment before transporting him to Hospital Metropolitano. POSTA México reported that he remained hospitalized in a condition described as delicate.
Municipal police and investigative agents collected evidence, including at least six spent 9-millimeter shell casings, according to POSTA México. Authorities are trying to reconstruct the attack, including the assailants' arrival and escape route.
The inquiry will also examine whether Lara García had received threats or whether a previous conflict among those involved could help explain the shooting.
Other shootings in Valle Soleado
Valle Soleado has seen several other shootings in recent months. Guadalupe is part of the Monterrey metropolitan area.
On July 29, 2026, armed men in a pickup truck chased a young man identified as Abner, who was between 20 and 25 years old, ABC Noticias reported. He was killed that night and found with five gunshot wounds at Valle de Morelia and Valle Grande streets. At the time of the report, no arrests or motive had been announced.
Another shooting on Valle de Morelia Street on August 13 wounded Raymundo, 28, in the right foot. A police operation involving ground and air units led to the arrest of a suspect, identified by N+ as Ángel David, 32, a native of Tabasco.
According to N+, authorities seized a 9-millimeter firearm and referred Ángel David to the Public Ministry. He is under investigation for attempted homicide.
More recently, a 17-year-old was shot and killed a few meters from his home in Valle Soleado on October 17. Telediario México reported that the assailants escaped in a pickup truck and that the state prosecutor's office was investigating.
State and national homicide figures
Statewide figures published before the October shootings showed a decline in intentional homicides. In a September 12 report, Infobae cited a 48% decrease across Nuevo León municipalities for January 1 through September 10, 2026: 281 cases, compared with 542 during the same period in 2025.
The figures came from the Secretariado Ejecutivo del Sistema Estatal de Seguridad Pública and were reported by the Mesa de Coordinación para la Construcción de La Paz, which described the decline as historic. García, Guadalupe and Montemorelos together recorded a 29% reduction.
The same Infobae report cited the national public security secretariat, SESNSP, as reporting a 53% decline in Mexico's daily average of intentional homicides between September 2024 and August 2026, from 86.9 to 40.8 cases per day.
